Cityspace to deliver ticketing for Cambridgeshire BRT
Cambridgeshire Guided Busway team selects Cityspace to deliver multi-operator ticketing with ITSO contactless smart ticketing functionality
London, 3rd June 2009 — Cityspace, a leading provider of transport information and services to passengers, has been selected by Cambridgeshire Guided Busway in a competitive bid to provide a multi-functional off-bus ticketing network for the highly anticipated BRT project.
Cityspace has developed 17 smart card enabled, cash and cashless ticketing machines for the ticketing network at stops along the 25 kilometre route linking central Cambridge with St Ives. The machines will set the benchmark as the first off-bus self-service ticketing terminals offering ITSO certified, Oyster-like facilities in the UK.
"The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway is going to be a world-class service and therefore it is important that every part of the system reflects those very high standards. That certainly includes ticketing where we want to make sure we have a system that is fast and easy to use for passengers, said Chris Poultney, Project Manager.
"Cityspace has a proven track record in delivering complex, state-of-the art passenger service solutions which is exactly what the project is looking for in our ticketing partner. Expectations are high!"
As pioneers of passenger technology for public transport information and services since the mid 90's, Cityspace has developed a state-of-the-art interactive ticketing machine which seamlessly accommodates cash and cashless payments with Oyster-like swipe technology.
"The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway project presented us with an opportunity to combine multi operator ticketing with ITSO contactless smart ticketing functionality to deliver a fully comprehensive, but simple off-bus ticketing solution," said Guy Wolfenden, Director of Products and Services, Cityspace.
"This is a landmark project for Cityspace; Cambridgeshire's Guided Busway will be a world-class BRT scheme and our selection to deliver the ticketing underpins our position as leading providers of premier passenger services for the 21st century."
The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway ticketing project comes hot-on-the-heels of Cityspace's selection by Swansea for the passenger information network and content management/delivery of its acclaimed Swansea Metro BRT last month. This growing portfolio of expertise in BRT delivery also includes the much hailed Kent Fastrack BRT with Kent Thameside and York's pioneering FTR.
End.
